ENA and IAFN are proud to offer nurses a discount for joining both associations.

The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) is partnering with the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) for a special offer this month only: save 15% when you join both associations!
Are you and your emergency department prepared to care for patients experiencing violence?
Violence is a global public health crisis, and emergency nurses are expected to know how to care for patients who experience severe violence or abuse while balancing the legal realities of evidence collection, reporting requirements, and community referrals—all with very little training.
You can be prepared, and ENA and IAFN are invested in helping you succeed.
Why Join?
As a member of ENA and IAFN you get:
- Community – Connect with the world’s largest networks of emergency nurses and forensic nursing professionals

ENA and IAFN have a long history of collaboration and highlighting the critical importance of providing comprehensive forensic nursing care in the emergency setting. This has included:
- Sharing the free course Caring for the Sexually Assaulted Patient When There is No SANE in Sight.
- Jointly publishing several position statements such as Adult and Adolescent Sexual Assault Patients in the Emergency Care Setting(August 2016) Intimate Partner Violence (January 2019), Forensic Nursing in the Emergency Care Setting (August 2023), and Human Trafficking Awareness in the Emergency Care Setting (August 2023).
Forensic nurses are trained to provide expert, trauma-informed care to patients who experience acute and long-term health consequences associated with victimization or violence.
- At least 10 million adults in the U.S. annually are impacted by Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), and the World Health Organization estimates that about one in three women aged 15-49 worldwide have been victims of IPV.
- IAFN estimates that only 25% of U.S. hospitals have a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) program, and this is only one aspect of forensic nursing needs!
- Forensic nurses have the knowledge and skills to care for patients who are victims of child maltreatment, elder abuse, human trafficking, and more.
- Emergency nursing has many sub-specialties focused on specific patient populations, health conditions and locations, including trauma, triage, disaster response and more.
- 96 percent of nurses who completed ENA’s Emergency Nurse Residency Program said they felt prepared for the clinical challenges in the ED.
- ENA’s Emergency Severity Index is used by approximately 94% of U.S. hospitals to properly assess patients, optimize patient flow and improve health outcomes.
- ENA is the only nursing association engaged in developing and delivering its own original research to advance excellence in care.
*Disclaimer: Must be a current member of ENA or IAFN, or a new member joining both organizations to receive the discount. Discount is not eligible for ENA Student Membership.
