SANE Course IAFN Seal of Approval

The courses listed below have submitted documentation to reflect that the course content meets all of the training content reflected in the most current edition of the IAFN SANE Education Guidelines. By meeting all requirements to match the current SANE Education Guidelines, they have been officially recognized an IAFN Approved SANE Course.  Courses that use the standardized Educational Design Planning Table and references to create their agenda and training program reflect that their content meets the Education Guidelines.  Providers of these courses may then submit their course documentation to the IAFN Approver Unit for approval to become approved providers of the SANE Course through the IAFN Approver Unit, an approved approver unit through the American Nurses Credential Center Commission on Accreditation.

The courses with an asterisk next to the provider name below have been recognized as meeting the SANE Education Guidelines under the previous Course Approval requirements and will be grandfathered until December 2018 to update to utilize the standardized, planning table provided by IAFN effective May 1, 2018.

The IAFN is working to support the standardization of content in initial SANE courses (Adult/Adolescent and Adolescent/Pediatric) to support standardized, evidence-based practice and quality outcomes for patients. Courses that carry the IAFN Approved SANE Course Seal provide learners an assurance that their course will meet all requirements for SANE-A/SANE-P certification. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that the course meets her/his needs as a forensic examiner, including all state/jurisdictional requirements.

If your course is not listed above and you plan or expect to sit for the SANE-A® or SANE-P® certification exam in the future, the course you attend must cover all content identified in the SANE Education Guidelines.

It is highly recommended that you review the eligibility criteria established by the Commission for Forensic Nursing Certification to confirm that the course you select meets the eligibility criteria for you to sit for the exam. The eligibility criteria can be found in the SANE Certification Examination Handbook.
