Discharge and Follow-Up Planning 12. Legal Considerations About the Training This training is designed to provide 40 hours of didactic training. The educational guidelines from the International Association of Forensic Nurses is utilized in developing the training content. All presenters have specialized training in child and adolescent sexual abuse. The target group for the training is RNs, APRNs, Physicians and Physician Assistants. Participants do not have to complete the Adult/Adolescent SANE training prior to taking this training. Our lead coordinator and trainer for the program is Deb Flowers, MSN, CPNP-PC, SANE-A, SANE-P. Deb has 30-years’ experience in providing care for sexual assault victims. She has been practicing in the field of child maltreatment for the last 10.5 years. Deb also has significant experience in developing and providing sexual assault nurse examiner/forensic trainings. A “certificate of completion” will be provided to participants who complete the didactic and clinical requirements of this training. To obtain “certification”, participants may apply to the International Association of Forensic Nurses ( to sit for the board certification. Post Class Requirements Participants are expected to complete a clinical component following the training. The clinical component is arranged by the participant in the community of practice. Those nurses having completed a clinical requirement for the Adult/Adolescent SANE will only have to complete specified components of the Pediatric/Adolescent SANE clinical requirements.
