Description What is a sexual assault nurse examiner? Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) are registered nurses who have specialized knowledge and skills to care for the patient who has experienced sexual assault or abuse. What is the purpose of this CE activity? This continuing education activity is designed for the registered nurse interested in caring for this specialized population. Participants of this course will learn the valuable role of the registered nurse as a forensic nurse examiner, practice standards, components of the forensic exam, evidence collection, and the importance of community collaboration. This 5-day continuing education activity will provide the scientific knowledge to enable the learner to understand the practice standards and role responsibilities of a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE). The learner may then decide to pursue further clinical education to become a SANE.
