Description
This program is designed for medical providers interested in providing forensic-medical assessment and care to adult/adolescent victims of sexual assault. The 40 hour course, conducted over a 4 (10 hr) or 5 (8 hr) day period, is designed to provide Registered Nurses, MDs and PAs with a comprehensive education program consisting of: Assessment Examination Collection of Forensic Evidence Evaluation of Sexual Assault Victims Prerequisites for Participation in Didactic Training (Read all materials for specifics): Current Registered Nurse License or Current Medical License (MD or DO) or Current Physician Assistant License Current (within 60 days), clear background check (to be obtained by and at the expense of participant) Online Registration Application Commitment Form Deposit Curriculum Overview: Multidisciplinary Team Concepts Forensic Nursing Roles and Responsibilities of the Adult/Adolescent SANE/SAFE The Dynamics of Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Medical/Forensic Evaluation Evidence Evaluation – Role of the Forensic Scientist Criminal Justice System Ethics Evaluation Additional clinical training is required in order to complete the SANE training program.
